I guess it's kind of an odd question...but does anybody know which weighs more...flareside or styleside? I've had a few people say the Flareside weighs more...which doesn't seem right. Any ideas/facts?
I checked a truck catalogue I picked up a couple of weeks ago, and there is a column for the specs called "Weight". I assume its what I call the curb weight for a base vehicle without accessories/options (like a hitch, rails, etc.).
For the 1987 F150, 116.8" wheelbase, 1/2 ton, six cylinder they list the following:
Confused...I found specs for '99 models that listed the Flareside at 26# heavier...but guys on the lightning site that have lifted both beds are saying that the flaresides are noticeably heavier?
With my limited knowledge of the Ford truck model lines, I can't validate that the information is 100% accurate in my source. Ten pounds doesn't seem like much.
The book has loads of specs for all truck/van manufacturers, and the same info is not present for all of them.
I'll check some later models .. are you driving a 1999?
I have a '93 Lightning and I'm considering putting a Flareside bed on it....it currently has a rough tailgate and is showing a bit of rust over the wheelwell (driverside). I think a flareside would be unique...but I didn't want to add a bunch of weight to the truck...
