Steering componates?

I have a 96 F-350 that is sitting on 37" tires right now. I went by the front end shop a couple days ago talking to him about the steering on it. I could tell the drag link is wore out on it, but he also noticed the tie rods needs replacing too.

He told me the best thing he would suggest is to find a kit that uses Heim joints so I'm not coming back every 6 months to replace them again.

Well I found a website that sells what he was talking about but was wondering if anyone has every used them before. The couple post I've found on here about them, just seemed to kinda get pushed under the rug and no responses.

Here is the website I found. Genuine Bullet Proof Tie Rod & Drag Link Packages

Is there anything out there that is any better? Is it worth steeping up to there bigger tubing?

The one good thing about going with this set up is when the joints do wear down over time all you have to do is replace the joint itself and not the whole rod.

I wonder what it would cost if you just bought some Heim joints and tubing and built your own? Shouldn't be too hard to do.

6 months is an exaggeration. They don't wear out that fast. But as for your question, i don't see why you couldn't do that. I would look into the cost of making your own v buying the kit. Then again, you have to consider your time to make them and the skill you have as far as fabrication goes. if your a pro, it shouldn't be that hard to do. if your like me, I know i could do it but time wise id be better of buying the kit lol.

I think I'd have a hard time coming out ahead on trying to make something like that. Knowing me I'd screw one piece up and then have more invested in materials then I would buying the kit.

Would it be worth the extra money to upgraded to their heavier tubing though? I'm not doing any rock crawling right now. But some places that I take my truck I am doing some "tough" ridding on it.

I mean so far OEM parts haven't failed me, so their basic line says its better then OEM. So I shouldn't need anything more then that right.

Unless you're doing some pretty aggressive off-roading, I wouldn't worry about upgrading to the heavier tubing.
