Dealer Visit
Took the truck in to the local dealer today to make sure I had the latest flash, change the oil and all filters. My coolant was low and so they did a pressure check as well. The outcome, I already had the latest flash, no leaks in coolant system, they topped off my coolant. Oil and all filters replaced and they pulled my door unlock code to boot. They got me for $126 and there was a NC for pulling the door code. I furnished the oil, and all filters. Diesel Mechanic said the ol rig is in great shape. He also recommended using a fuel additive called Diesel Dry. He said you keep the water out of the fuel, do the recommended services throughout the life of the truck and I won't have any problems. I chuckled and said, time will tell.

I provided both fuel filters and the oil filter and the oil. They charged me $17 for the oil change, and something like $80 to change both fuel filters. I though $80 to change the fuel filters was a bit high, but this is my first time and don't really know how long it truly takes. It is probably something I could do myself I bet.

Very pricey...but so is my dealer.
However, you might try your local quicklane instead for some of these items. Mine is in a separate building and so I see them for the simple stuff. Seem to have their own pricing and the guy is very down to earth.

One of my friends had the same thing happen to his stock 6.4.
Losing coolant a little then one day HG let go.
But there is a lot of ways one of these trucks could lose coolant.

I was always losing coolant, and nobody wanted to look into it any further. I always assumed it was a leak, and kept trying to trace down leaks, and I think it was the head gaskets all along.
Right now, I've put 4000 km's on it from when i got it back, and the coolant level hasn't changed a millimeter. It's exactly where it was when it left the dealership, and I know, cause I marked the level with a marker.
It's never stayed level that long, and the dealership never even changed any parts out.....

Sounds very familiar.
