alternator went out

Fine start to the holiday weekend - lost my alt this morning. Batt light came on just as I was getting into town. Now - no time for a rebuild as we are planning on leaving today for the weekend. Have to take my 00 - only truck setup to pull the boat. (My other 2 are 5th wheel only - no frame hitch. Only the 00 in my sig has a frame mtd hitch for towing my boat)

Local cheapo parts stores: autozone, advance, o'riellys, napa, car quest

Who's the best of the worst?

Just need an alt to tide me over till next week when I can get my old one rebuilt. Thing only needs to last about 3 weeks - kicker is I'll be driving about 2K miles in this time frame - all hwy

If you have to have one now just buy a NEW unit. The rebuilds are supposed to be just as good but they are not. At O'Reiley's the new unit is only about $10 more than the rebuilt unit.

Ended up with a new REMY - time will tell how good they are.

Funny though @ over 2000 rpm the batt light would go out - hope its just the alt because I'm runn'n outta time. Changing it in the morning - raining here now supposed to be better in the am tomorrow. Would like to have done it tonight but the weather isn't cooperating. Guess I could take a chance and try driving it the 15miles home to our shop but I'm afraid it'd die in the worst spot and then it'd be more $$ to have it towed home. Oh well early am in the wally world prkng lot it'll have to be. Light came on while on the interstate and I picked the next exit...

Well that Sucks. At least it is a quick, simple repair that can be done at Wally World parking lot.

I've had good luck with Remy. Hopefully you'll be on the road with no issues.
I keep a spare alt in my tool box just in case.
