When I accelerate at a moderate rate when going up hill, I am feeling a clunking coming from the transmission. It seems to only happen when the overdrive is engaged. It seems as if the transmission keeps slipping out of whichever gear it is trying to hold for just a second. It can happen numerous times in about a 10 second period.
My extended warranty will cover me for about another 11K miles, and I will have it into the dealer next week. I just wanted to know if any of you have any ideas as to what this may be. I've had problems with this dealer in the past, and I'd like to have a specific explination to point to when I bring it in.
The U-joints all look good, and I doubt it's anything coming from the read diff. The truck never sees its maximum payload, and is routinely used to pull an 18' bowrider (maybe 3-4000lbs maximum). I have about 88K miles and change on the truck.

I seem to be having a problem with my transmission staying in gear when accelerating moderately up a hill. The problem is only happening when the overdrive is engaged. It basically feels like it slips out of gear for just a split second. It can happen a handfull of times over a 10 second period. The result is a clunking feeling coming from right under the middle of the cab.
The u-joints look good, and it doesn't feel as if it is the rear diff. The truck never sees its maximum payload, but does routinely tow an 18' bowrider (maybe 3000lbs).
I will be taking the truck into the dealership next week as I am still under my extended warranty. I just wanted to have a more specific issue to point to when I tell them what is wrong. I haven't had the best luck with this dealership and I'm trying to head off any problems before they occur.
Thanks
Matt
