Not sure where to post this question.... but what is the general opinion on letting a gas engine idle for an extended period of time? I never have shut mine off if I know I'll be moving again within 30 minutes or so, especially in the winter. You know a quick trip in the store or a couple beers while your waitin for your pizza? I figure the startup is the worst time for an engine among other things.
In fact, I was talkin to a dude who started OTR truckin and he was specifically instructed not to shut down if just stoppin for the night so if he gets home for a night the rig will run all night out there by itself. Granted that's a diesel engine but can someone give me a reason NOT to run mine like I do?
Shut her off. Don't waste your fuel. These are tough trucks and you don't need to worry. Winter is a different story, if it was 10F I would probably keep her running.
