Ignition woes... one step at a time?

I'm experiencing a loss of power on acceleration and on hills which I'm fairly certain is ignition-related and not my transmission. My 1999 E-350 V10 was sitting idle for probably a good year prior to my purchasing it. There's a good chance moisture and corrosion have found their way into the ignition.

I'd like to tackle this repair one step at a time myself rather than do the dealer service route.

Does it make sense to first replace the wires and then, if nothing changes, move on to the COP's and finally do the plugs?

Mine apparently has the weaker plug threads and there is a good chance some will break in doing the replacement : (

Wondering if this makes sense?

Might want to do a quick check for codes. Your 99 is OBDII capable, and codes can be stored even if the light is off.

I have a reader and I'm clear on all codes. Wish something did show up. Make my life easier.
