Lower Hose on 95

Lower Hose on 95
I have a 95 F-150 with a 300 and a 5 speed. Has anyone had a hard time getting an aftermarket lower hose to work on this application? I tried both a Goodyear and a Gates neither one works yet the factory hose fits like a glove.

Update: Gates hose from O'Reilly's didn't work neither did a Goodyear from AutoZone (they are probably made in the same factory). I ordered one from the dealer but the cost of 39.99 prompted me to do some more calling. Pep Boys carries Dekko(not sure of spelling) brand hoses so I decided to give one of those a shot as the dealer had to order the hose anyway. The hose from Pep Boys fit like a glove and it only cost ten bucks. I agree 101% with Edenroadmaster regarding how hoses are designed but dealer prices suck. To flush the system, change all the hoses, the thermostat, radiator cap, and refill the system only cost me 50 bucks; if I would have used dealer parts, the cost would have been somewhere in the neighbor hood of $150.00. I am surprised that no one else ran into the same problem somewhere along the line. Thanks.
