won't charge now

Hi everyone again I just got my 289 going an it run good but will not charge the battery .
Does it matter wich way the alt. Spins . Thank you for you help . Rick

That part you can't mess up. Engine only runs one direction. Alternator will only mount one way. Something is wired wrong, alternator or voltage regulator is bad.
