It's supposed to be as close to an oem replacement.
I purchased this last week, and have been scratching my head ever since. I installed a similar one on a Chevy 305 with no problems. Now I'm wondering if this was ever meant to be. I still have to deal with SMOG. Or I would redo all the vacuum. Am I missing something?
The Ford stamped manifold I pulled off doesn't have an efe valve hole. The 3783 manifold has an efe hole. Being this, I don't have the efe valve. I've called the local Ford dealer, and they can't vin # check below 1990. I don't know if this truck is suppose to have one. Plus, if it was suppose to have one, I can't find one for sale.
Second, how do route vacuum hoses, when Edelbrock didn't include some of the ports for the vacuum trees?
Is this carb you are installing certified by the EPA as a exact replacement for your original carb? I kind of doubt this. Just by installing this carb, you are messing with the original smog equipment, even if it did have all the ports. The best you can do is figure out what each thing does, what you need to keep and what you can get rid of, and then put the large original aircleaner back on it to hide everything underneath, and hope if they lift the hood they don't see it. If you tune it right, it should pass the sniffer test.
I believe you are going to need one of these to get the EGR hooked up to this manifold. I believe I would hunt around in the junkyard for a replacement Ford intake myself.
Anyway's, I used to have an 81' F100 w/ a 302. I put the Performer Intake on it. It's a pretty easy job. I remember there being a vacuum tree toward's the back, Maybe that's something you need to go buy?
