okay guys i done some searching and came up with this so far i think it will be a good buy considering what i have to do to my truck but idk would like some input on the site or if you have a better one? And this is in relation to my other thread down below https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...pic-heavy.html
Well they got the right picture but idk I just don't want to spend so much everything else I have looked at for this stiff is bout 1000 or more and I just don't have that. Should I try it and let u all know how well it is?
dam aune your a hell of a guy man i mean it too but question is i think imma go with the second one you posted just cause of price and what not atm i dont have much money and its gonna be a long time doing this stuff cause i wanna do it right and also i think i am gonna buy head studs. Also um one other question if i want to bore it out what size would be a good size and any idea how much it would cost cause there is a guy here in town that i would take it too but i havent had any time to make it there before he closes and talk to him
At least with Northern you know where the gaskets and bearings are made. The PowerStroke(idiots) and last site do not disclose who made the gaskets and other parts in the kit. A diesel rebuild is not a good place to skimp, it is way too expensive to have to redo.
Something else I noticed with the last website, the pic is misleading, They show replacement sleeves, so the image you see is not what you would get.(not to mention they show only 6 pistons and sleeves)

Not only that, those aren't the right pistons. Matter of fact, I doubt any of those parts would work in our trucks, its most likely just a random engine kit photo they use for everything.

To me, boring out a 6.9 isn't worth the money or potential problems in the future versus any performance enhancement. Keep it a 6.9, spend the money on studs, and boost the SOB a little bit higher. Maybe even get lower compression pistons if you want more boost potential. Then there are pumps and injectors that can improve performance, too.
If you have to bore it you should be able to get piston .010, .020, .030, and .040 over. Mine is at .040 over only because it had been rebuilt before at .030 and PO melted a piston to wall, I had to go another .010 to clean it up. If I recall correctly I think it was about $150 for the boring but would have to check. Have not seen pistons bigger than .050 over.
