My dad has a 93 ford with im assuming the 7.3 idi with a turbo and it is slacking on power. The original motor had a good amount of power and he didnt have any problems with it until antifreeze ate througg the cylinder wall they replaced the motor and turned the fuel pump up and said everything is the same as the old motor but it cant be there is no comparison in motors i am just wondering what type of things u can do to these older motors to get more hp out of them
this will get you on the right track. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...p-ratings.html
you need to start there, because anything else like extra air in/out tricks (short of a plugged muffler,or a low boost turbo issue etc.) is only small gains compared to an old worn out fuel system/incorrect engine timing, and this still assumes your replacement engine still has healthy compression too of course.
