I was wondering if it would be easy to swap in a new 6.2l engine and new 6 speed tranny into a 2000 f250.
I know there would be lots to change but I was wondering if anyone tried it yet.
anything can be done but this swap sounds prohibitively complicated and way expensive. Engine management and shifting strategies alone would require refitting the 2000 with multiple computers and compatible wiring harnesses. Then theres emission controls which have changed dramatically in 12 years. The mechanics of mounts and adaptors. The nearly 400 hp and increased torque of the new motor would tax the tired remainder of the 2000 drivetrain. Gauges, fuel pump, relays, fuel delivery all vastly different. Might as well swap in a 12v cummins for less money and arguably more appeal if you were to resell it.
I just don't see it as practical or a good use of your dime.
IMHO...I don't see a reason why any body would want to install a 6.2L into a 2000 model year SD. I suppose with unlimited funds...any thing is possible. Just not practical.
