I am new here and have had my 2001 F350 for 6 years now. It's a F350 SD Powerstroke (7.3) Crew Cab, Dually, 2WD, 62,000 miles. We bought this truck used( the previous owner passed away) and I noticed on the PCM there's a gold Superchip installed. Just recently, the truck will die while it's being driven as well as when it's first started. The symptoms are inconsistent. Sometimes it will restart, other times it won't. I noticed that one time it wouldn't start, the Service Engine Soon light was on, the tach showed RPM's and a few other idiot lights were on.
I moved the PCM and the truck would start. I also have checked the codes, and sometimes I get 9 codes other times I don't get any.
Also, while the truck was running, I pushed lightly on the gold Superchip and the truck would shut off without any warning.
Suggestions? Can I remove the SuperChip and not install it with another until I can decide what to purchase in it's place? Do you think this is just the Superchip and not the PCM?
Thanks in advace for your help!

Reason: additional info.
First thing I would do is remove the chip and put it back to stock. Second it sounds like a lose connection somewhere on the pcm , make sure the harness is clicked all the way in..
I had the same thing with my superchip also. The chip is loose in the connection. Take it out and foreget it. Once removed it runs on the stock program. It should of been taped in some how so it don't work loose. Once they move around they never work right period.
Once its removed and if you don't like stock programing get a real chip. Most on here go with DP Tuner. I love mine and you can get many more tunes to switch on the fly. Good luck and report back.
The contacts on the circuit board may need retinning. When improperly cleaned to install the chip, the chip will lose contact there. You can remove the PCM and take it to any good electronics shop and have the board retinned. Remove your keys from the ignition while you are removing or installing the chip and PCM. This link shows the chip replacement procedure and the contacts I mentioned. https://dp-tuner.com/skin/frontend/d...stallation.pdf
Jody @ DP Tuner retinned mine before live tuning and now the chip fits snug.
