Lots of crank-case pressure.

Check the PCV valve and system for obstructions. If it is all clear and functional the engine is clapped out and needs a rebuild.

Thinner oil? it will just leak faster. Pull the filter and replace the seal behind the plate the the oil filter seals to.

white smoke sounds like coolant...

i think you should start with a compression test. if the motor is shot, there's no need in chasing your tail.

don't get too far ahead.

if the compression test comes back okay, you'll need to take Garbz's advice, and go through the crankcase ventilation system.

if the compression test doesn't come back okay...then you'll have to figure out what to do.

There is no such thing on any a 223 I-6 or 262 I-6 as original.

PCV was mandatory in all 1961 and later vehicles sold new in CA, but may/may not have been mandatory in other states till circa 1966.

When vehicles from other states came to CA, if PCV not present, a PCV kit had to be installed before the vehicle could be registered.

Factory installed PCV: The valve cover has two holes, one for the oil cap, the other for the smog valve which fit into a rubber grommet.

Neoprene rubber smog hose routes from valve to 90 degree elbow which threads into brass fitting that threads into backside of carburetor.

If the carb has been replaced, it's possible the PCV system was removed. CA smog tests were once required for all 1950 and newer vehicles.

But the smog laws were changed 30 some years ago, so now it's 1976 and newer vehicles.

Look for the DSO code that is stamped on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch. If DSO code is 71 or 72, your truck was sold new in CA.

Thanks number dummy. So that is a pcv valve. I knew it but wasn't positive. Can't get one of those new. You know if a "little" air is supposed to be blown out of that or "a lot" I tried cleaning it out but there's a pretty small tube inside that thing. Took the valve cover off and there's a plate tack welded over the pcv inside the cover. That's good info you just gave me.

Sure you can, how many would'ja like? You just need to know what other vehicles/engines the valve was used on, know where to look for it.

MUSTANGS ETC in Van Nuys CA has 3 C5ZZ-6A666-A = 818-787-7634. This valve will look the same as yours, the other may not.
