I found a used oil bath filter for my 64 F100 223 Was it painted semi gloss like the motor was or was it red like valve covers. Thanks David

 

It would have been black...semi gloss as i recall

It's Black. Below is an original '64 223.

 

I have aleays been under the impression the 223 valve covers are red and the larger motor was blue or black (6Cyl). Was Ford not consistent with this or was the color on theses valvecovers changed. Thanks David

 

Pardon my ignorance on this engine (and older engines in general), but what is an oil bath filter? Is it the thing attached to the top of the valve cover? Is it the sole oil filter?

 

DP, I am by no means an expert in this area but it is the air filter on a lot of the older vehicles instead of standard air filter as we know today this one had oil that I think moved around inside to catch dust and particles and trash pretty interesting system but Messy.
