Ok, I was moving some 2x4's in my excursion.
My 5 year old wanted to help and next thing i know, there is a 2x4 where the gauges are supposed to be.
It broke the clear plastic over the gauges, although it looks like everything is still working.
So...I started looking for new gauges on carparts dot com.
Found some that matched my mileage.
Question... After I install the new gauges, do I have to bring it to the dealer for a re-program or something ? If so, why ?

Drive it for a few days and make sure everything still works as it should. Put the cluster into test mode if you want to see if all the lights work. You do that by holding down the trip reset button while turning the key to the on position.
If everything checks out, you should be able to buy a new plastic cover from a dealer for much less than a used cluster. I think it was like $20 IIRC.
From what I hear, you could just swap in a used cluster no problem. If you buy a new cluster, then they have to program it for you. But the mileage will just be what you buy it with.
Also, I understand you can't have mileage re-programmed to match an old cluster either.
