I've had a thought in my mind for several years now - Take 5 or 6 MOAB's (GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and put them together into a cluster bomb that separates at a certain altitude to ensure maximum effective coverage of the bomb blasts...
I think they went and made cluster bombs illegal, or something like that... kinda shoots my idea out the window....

This was an atomic powered (note the range) cruise missile flying at Mach 4 and at 100ft. The tailpipe spewed out radioactive material and the shock wave destroyed everything in its path. It then delivered multiple, independantly targeted nuclear warheads and then crashed on another target where the onboard nuclear powerplant scattered radiation over a wide area.

Read up on the Cobalt bomb...........one bomb of large enough yield could supposedly irradiate the entire earth, ending all life.
A few physicists purposed that detonating the first hydrogen bomb would cause a chain reaction in the atmosphere burning the earth to a crisp.........they were wrong, thankfully.
