4.2 help

OK so 4.2 97 F150. REad in exhaustion about lower intake gasket. Story is PO had a little loss of coolant. Drove truck 20 miles, never overheated. Got home, it was missing a bit. Shut it off. Sat three months til yesterday. I pulled spark plugs. Cranked engine and oil sprayed out rear cylinders on each side. Oil has some coolant/milky residue. Does this sound like the intake gasket? Anything else I should check? As I tore it apart, I also noticed the oil mixture in the air intake tube, by the throttle body. It was also in the upper plenum runners. Thoughts? Thanks!

blown head gasket if there oil. The lower intake gasket needs changed anyways because that was a big flaw for that year 4.2L, I had both go bad. Are you sure it was oil comming from the rear cylinders and not coolant?

If ur seeing alot of the milky stuff then i would change the gaskets and get the heads checked out.

I had this problem as well, I spit the head between cyl 5&6, and the gasket was split as well. Needed new heads.

IIRC, the '97 models also had problems with timing chain cover gaskets in addition to LIM gaskets.

You can search the forum and find some info from way back when......
