Performance upgrades for 1999 F250
I am looking for information to upgrade the performance of my 1999 F250 V10 Super duty I bought a month ago. It has 145600 miles and runs good, and bought it for 7K to haul material around the house, and outdoor activities so my main commute will be my car. I am asking for any suggestions to increase the performance of this vehicle. I would also like to replace the seats do to they are pretty worn but I am not able to find any that are not stupid prices like on Amazon or Ebay.

I am just looking for experience as far as getting the truck chipped, using an edge, air intake, so just looking for suggestions. I am looking at making the ride better, for it is a truck. Any suggestions on shocks or suspension for in the end I plan on making this my toy. I wish I could get some replacement seats but they are crazy price on ebay. My shifter on the column is kind of sloppy and I am thinking about replacing it for they are cheap on ebay. How difficult is it replace it for it does have the overdrive on it??? Thanks

First, WELCOME to FTE!
I have a few suggestions, but I'm sure others will chime in over the next few days:
1) Shocks: I run the Rancho 9000xls. Adjustable, so that when you need a shift shock offroad or when carrying a heavy load, you can change the ride to suit you. I have NO experience with anything else but the stock shocks and the older 9000x's I put on right after I got the truck brand-new.
2) Tune: Contact Mike at 5-star, the sponsor for the V10 forum. He knows what he's doing, and will get you setup RIGHT. If you don't like something he will change it to suit you and FAST.
3) Intake and exhaust: Not much to help here, sorry to say. Headers will get SOMETHING but unless you want to change the sound too, it's not a big bump in anyway. Intake neither. I put a Volant system on which is steep in price, but sounds good and seems to have helped some. Anything that doesn't replace the right-angle stock tubing isn't going to do much.
4) Gears: If you have 3.73's, and aren't going to commute empty, they have the biggest bang for the buck. Check what ratio you have now and report back.
5) Seats: What's wrong with them? Foam shot, or just the covering? You can recover them with aftermarket, I believe.
6) Sloppy shifter - there are two torx-head screws that hold the lever on the end of the shift shaft up under the dash. The screws are at a shear angle with the lever, which is to me is a stupid design. The screws come loose. They did on my '01 - tightening those screws makes a world of difference. There is at least one thread in the Superduty forum about it, from quite a few years back.

I definetly look into the rear end for I am sure everything on this truck is stock. I will also look into upgrade of shocks. The seats are original Lariat so they are just worn with a couple of holes. I wonder if the seats from a 1999-2000 excursion fits the F250. I would bet they do. Now I need to find how to contact Mike at 5-star. I have locking hubs in the front which is normal. Has anyone ever converted them into where you can switch them in the cab, on the fly. This is old school to change the 4 wheel drive.
