Whats the best way to mount westerns on doors that didnt come with them. I thought about welding nuts in the doors? Or would fing like a insert with threads be better? Or just leave well enough alone, and keep what Ive got. Any ideas would be greatly apprecated!
Rinvuts (or nutserts) are the best way to install the the mirror bolting area in the actual door. There are T bolts that are used in the top and the 3rd bar mounting holes. The Rivnuts use a pop rivet looking tool that expand them so they wont pull out of the door.
2x.... on the nutserts (threaded rivets). A kit is available for around $90. My local Ace Hardware carries a small kit for around $12 with two nutserts and a tool.
T-bolts or small carriage bolts on top with acorn nuts, lock washers, and flat washers. Whichever way you go, I recommend you opt for stainless steel hardware. Lowe's carries a good selection.
