Does anybody know if I can unplug the warning buzzer module thing under the dash that goes dong dong when the door is open. It drives me nuts when I'm listening for noises in the engine or elsewhere with the key on or motor running with the door open. Is it all intergrated with anything importent like the anti-theft system or the computer system ? I would like to leave it out permanently if I can.
What year is the truck? Does it have RKE or anti-theft? The best thing is to add a kill switch to the door switch circuit; that makes the courtesy lights stay off, too.
I'm not sure what RKE is but the ford dealer where I bought it used said it was installed by ford. It's a 92 E150 conversion van. It has a little remote on the keychain that locks the doors, kills the starter, shuts off the fuel supply, turns off the interior lights and sets the alarm. Even if I'm sitting in it for a while I have to hit the button again to start the motor.
O.K then I guess I can just probe around the back of the plug with my vom and see which wire goes hot or to ground when I open the door. If that works,I'll put a small switch inline with it.
Thanks guys.
A bit late here but, yeah, I tear 'em out of every Ford I drive. I hate those buzzers only because the system they are hooked to make 'em buzz for everything (and because it's an annoying buzz I guess...).
