Greetings...might anyone be able to tell me if I could change out the steering wheel clock spring without setting off the SRS device? My '94 EB Bronco has problems with the horn and cruise control not responding, and I am getting a 3-2 flashing of my airbag lamp. Not really sure if I have diagnosed the problem correctly, but my horns and relays check out okay. Also, are there any 4x4 Bronco clubs in NW Arkansas? Thanks...
Seabisquit:
do a search on clock spring. there was a great discussion with some very good instructions on it. yes it can be done, just follow the instructions. someone else will need to help on the second part. i'm in TX. good luck!
Your diagnosis seems right on. It's easy to change and there's NO chance you'll set off the airbag unless you do it intentionally. It's the first thing you remove, and the connector has an automatic shorting clip inside that instantly disables it when you pull it apart. You can see it in the GP Auto pics album in my signature link, and there are a few pics of a stripped-down steering column, too. Click on the thumbnails to zoom in & read the captions.
For a club near you, contact "muddybronco" on Off-Road.com. I think he has it linked in his profile on that BBS.
