W/G Removal...

Knocked ur out in 30min tops. Use of 1/4in ratchet, 2-6in extensions, 1/4in wobbly and 1/4in 10mm socket. Really, 5min to remove the nutz and 15min to remove the damn clip. The other 10min missing is for install of new... Hopefully it cures my low boost #'s.

An ATS housing, on a van turbo with a BANKS bigHead...bwahaha...LOL

Nah, just a known good one, that was on my other turbo when it popped. The one that got replaced, i "shortened" it up thinking it'll give more boost, well, not the case. Will find out however inna bit, if boost is back..(if theirs a god, please...)

I'm on a phone, so can't type to well...anyway, I'm pi$$ed...I guess every w.g. must be "calabrated" to each turbo, since, not knowing, the new w.g. I installed MUST be holding the flapper open...trucks a Turd!!! ya, uel have pics, since doin it again..man, I'm a tard..FYI, truck don't "come on" until 2400rpmz. #z I was seeing b4 were 10psi, so that at was to blame, h cuz I adjusted it, but now thinking it ain't it. I really need those intake boots from Clay...I want my #z back...

I was reading about wastegate preload. Did you preload the actuator arm when you connected it? I was going to adjust mine but have not done it yet. There is a youtube video that shows how to preload a wastegate.

Pre load? The thing I've done, seen done, and heard done is to just tighten the mess out of it so that when you want to put the rod back on the wg, you need to apply a lil air pressure to get it to extend and latch. I had my old one on my stock turbo tightened up alot and my 38r is also about as tight as I can get it. Not saying its right, but I was getting mid 30 with stock turbo and almost 40 with the 38r. Stock tune and stock turbo I was getting a lil over 20 with a ww. Tighten that dude up. What activates the wg is boost. So if your making boost and the wg isn't set tight enough, it will start bleeding off drive pressure which makes the boost. Someone else could probly splain it better!

Know Bulla you did good. Unless they have an intake leak they don't know about that should work. You have to hold the rod going into the Diaphram or you can damage it as well.

Bulla, you bring up a great thought. I too, have the XDP wicked wheel, and was wondering if my low boost is because of it??? Prior to popping the original turbo with a black w.w. installed, I WAS getting 17/18psi stock, had to let off the skinny, with redline disconnected. Now, with chasing down a harmonic sound, i've been get'n 10/11psi tops with redline engaged, 15psi w/out hooked up.

Only "true" sign of anything leaking ,is the cold side pipe, facing radiator, theres some "dry soot" on the pipe, but thats it. Nothing under the spider, charge nor uppipes..(used mirror while get'n w.g. clip off, to check the uppies). Really frustrating. Gonna tweek the wg now, and remove cold side pipe and re-install...hopefully report back with better results...

Alright, installed the other w/g, the one i removed that started this thread, along with putting 2-complete turns to the actuator, and boost #'s are back to where they are ,and truck has "some" ballz again, but nowhere near the 17/18psi stock it had when i purchased truck.

Anyone know out there, IF a W.W. could possibly lower boost #'s? I guess post #4/5 answers this question...

Yes Timmy, it should be 5 to 6 turn from the neutral position where it just starts to apply pressure. And my WW from Clay I get 18# in stock tune with the 1.0 exhaust housing. Or set it up with air like dan's post where it moves between 10 to 12 psi air pressure. I set mine up with a fish scale and pressure on the waste gate.I never put on my boost fooler, but I will before I go to Morgan Hill this time.

Guys, i'm there with 5-6 turns out. I originall turned it 2-3 turns when installing the turbo, then another 3-4 turns yesterday with the re-install of it. Whats wierd is, i dont get the "whoosh" sound anymore thru the filter. Was on it (pedal) today, and at best, was 16psi with redline unhooked.., o-well, just glad to have some boost back.

Was looking at just the plenum boots and cant believe i didnt pull trigger on them before. 13 buks ea, is a bargain...try'n to decide what else i may "need', to help with shipping...the EBP tube is on sale for 26 buks, that sounds great, and the AIH boost plug for 13, heck thats a steal...
