radio question

The other day I installed a new radio in my 2008 F450. The CD player no longer worked and I had seen good deals on ome radio's on ebay. I ended up with what was claimed as a new take out and it still had the plastic covering on it but it came from a 2011 truck. The radio and the the cd player work fine what doesn't is my steering wheel controls and the day night setting. This radio is always on the night setting so it's hard to read it in the daylight. I did remove the radio a second time to make sure I had a good conection and that made no difference. So my question is does anyone know if there is a difference between the 08 and 2011 trucks, both radios look the same. Or does the truck need a reflash because of the radio. Of course I could also have a bad radio.

That is a tough one.

The dimming function I had to deal with for an aftermarket unit. There is not a dimming wire. The dimming is controlled by the pcm.

Now, is the radio compatible with 2008 I do not know.

Hope that helps somewhat.
