I am confused by reading my 2012 Diesel F250 on proper towing procedure. Do I stay in normal auto or go into manual shifting. It also talks about "locking" out gears. Why do I want to do this? Do you use the tow/haul mode all the time or just when driving in hilly or mountains?
When I tow I use the Tow/Haul Mode all the time. No need to switch it in or out IMHO, the economy wont out weigh the benifits of that trans strategy.
I have a 06 so my TS trans is a lot different that the new ones. Maybe go down to the 6.7 section and ask the same question you may get more answers from the guys that are towing with these things day in and day out.
But like I said use Tow/Haul and let the truck do the work..there pretty smart now a days.
Put truck in drive, activate Tow/Haul mode and go. Nothing more to think about, let the truck decide what gear it wants. Don't over-think this, you'll do great.
