New Engine Need your Input..

Ok My new Engine runs but has this rough Idle and lack of power on the bottom end when I towed my boat home. so I took it to a shop and that two injectors were not working at Idle when the oil gets warm.
so they took the valve cover off and today they told me they did a compression test. The drivers side front cylinder is 450# and the next one is like 425# then number #8 is 250# so the tell me the compression is all over the board when it should all be close to each other.

now this is a reman engine with 200 miles on it. it starts and runs smooth when cold but after driving it for a bit the idle gets rough and has a virbration
there telling me its internal problem there not seeing any leak by in the intake or exhaust so its going to the crankcase. But wouldnt you see excessive crankcase pressure. realy hate to have to pull the engine and tear it down..
So What do you think ??

this motor has 200 on a it?
could it be the rings have not seated.
how is blow by, take a peace of paper and hold it close to the exhaust with the truck running if it pulls the paper back to the pipe you may have bad piston, it may be rings, hole or valves.

I will get the truck back tomorrow and will do some of my own testing, the engine was to have all new valve seats and guides the shop told me it wasnt leaking into the intake or exhaust sides So my question is where the pressure going and why are the cyliders not close in pressure.. the only thought I have is broken rings on #8 but what about the rest. I just didnt want to cause anymore damage to the engine by running it more if there was a major problem. Im realy worried about the virbration..

was the bottom end built?
if the rings are bad you should get pressure in the crankcase.

Where'd you buy the engine? Who put it together? If its not going thur the valves you will have crank case pressure out the oil tube when removed. And if its number eight, you will have cyclinder damage if what they are telling you is true. It could be just broken rings on that cyclinder, but if it were me I'd do a compression test again on all cyclinders and if there that low, pull that head and take a look. The ones in the 400 range are good cyclinder for sure.

Well it looks like Im going to be pulling the engine again and see whats going on.
compression test show#2-400# #4-365# #6-350# #8-250 and blowing into the crankcase. the Icp pressure decreases and fluctuated as engine warms up.
Manualy tested cylinders for contribution cylinder 6 and 8 do not have an effect when vehicle is wam. and the engine has a virbration though out the rpm range

Get in touch but take your own compression test. Verify the shape of the motor. Then pull the head off that side if compression says it bad. Have the head pressure tested and checked for cracks if the cyclinder looks good with no streaks etc.. Boy you had that motor shipped from PA back east? I'd be really mad if that happen.

A new engine could have varing compression because the rings aren't seated yet. But the 200psi one has a big problem. Now you just got to find out what it is. Check 1,3,5 & 7 also. If your going that far you need to check both sides.

well they checked all the cylinders and those were the ones below 425#
250# is a big deal sounds like it was leaking past the rings or theres a crack in the piston
no matter what Im pulling the engine and will do a teardown to inspect it, Im more worried about the virbration, If I recall the crank pulley was at 27hz of hermonic virbration. and I know they didnt balance the bottom end because I had the flexplate.
So that will be done with a new fluid damper and I might get a new flexplate too.
It Sucks but it has to be done. hind sight is 2020 I should have listen to my wife and used somebody close to me to build it.. ( Lesson Learned )

Chet, I plan on taking alot of pics and video of the teardown, may have to take legal actions against the engine builder and I want it all on film.
I found the engine builder in texas, I sent him a letter to have him get ahold of me or I will be taking a trip to texas and deal with him in person, Thats how Pissed I'am
If you get bored you can come to Murrieta and check it out in person have a beer swap stories and talk Sh&!t
