i just bought a 1994 pre powerstroke turbo diesel they said they thank the injectors r bad has 315xxx miles on it and i would say same on the fuel system they said that when the truck is cold it will start and run fine but when it gets hot and u shut it off to restart it it wont restart sounds like starter or sylonide to me went out there yesterday and we had to cross the sylonide for it to start but started and ran fine let it run for a hour shut it off and crossed the sylonide again started right up what could it be also i want more power what is the stock injector cc i have another set that i can send in and have tuned by a friend at navstar and will i need to up my fuel line size and turn the pump up alittle more truck is also blowing alittle white smoke while it runs could that be the injectors
Which solenoid are you talking about? The one on the fender that runs to the starter, the one on the starter itself which makes the starter spin, or one of the 3 on the injection pump?
Its possible the truck needs a new starter.
On an unrelated note, if thats the original fuel system, it should be replaced. Injectors and injection pumps on these pumps wear out over time and its recommended they be replaced (together) every 100,000 miles.
Like Festus said, try using some punctuation and breaking your post up so its easier to read and follow.
sorry i was in a hurry and was useing my phone. the solenoid on the fender is the one we crossed. i have a guy at navstar working on some injectors for me he thinks he can get some 180 cc injectors put togther for me. what should i have done to the pump if anything? he said the fuel lines should be ok with the bigger injector.
Replace the solenoid on the fender, its cheap and easy. If that doesn't fix the problem, you may have an issue in the ignition switch or the circuit between there and the fender solenoid.
What fuel lines are you talking about? The metal ones from the pump to the injectors can NOT be modified as they are precisely made. The will have no problem flowing however much fuel you want. The lines running from the tank to the engine are also big enough for anything the engine will be able to handle.
If the pump is original, it should be rebuilt/replaced. Another pertinent question is what do you want to do with the truck? Search around the forum here and you'll find quite a bit of info on people that have built up their trucks, what they did, and what they think of their mods.
i want the truck to be able to pull a load without a problem and pour smoke if i want it i know black smoke means your loosein power but i love smoke and i want to go fast
Lol lots of smoke and big loads don't mix. Your EGTs would be through the roof.
Here is an example, tons of black smoke but could barely haul itself up a grade at 1000 EGTs....and that's unloaded! Not ideal what so ever if I were to hook up to a load.

i had some black smoke under load (mostly in 2nd at high rpms loaded up,going up hill) when i backed off a flat on the fuel on a rebuilt ip,my pedal felt WAY crisper.it wasn't even a real deep black either, just enough to call "black".it felt like mush.going up hill under those conditions i gained speed when i left off the skinny cus my air/fuel ratio was closer.
proper tuning is key.
with a turbo things are a bit different im sure.at first, there very well could be some smoke until it boosts up.with n/a though smoke just turns the truck to mush lol.if you play with the fuel screw, you'll see for yourself.
smoke doesn't = going fast with this engine as n/a anyway.
shoot, depending on how well tuned i can get my engine with a turbo,i may actually buy hypermaxes smoke puff eliminator to save on fuel at take offs.i have a feeling though with my easy granny driving i won't need to.but when loaded up,and if i see i can't kill all the smoke at take off with my foot, then i putting one on.fuel cost too much to waste in a smoke cloud.the internal combustion engine is pathetically inefficient as is when properly tuned.we don't even get close to half of our fuel used for forward motion.most is wasted generating heat.the last thing you want is to make it worse with fuel over $4 per gallon.
