What 4 barrel for a flathead

Anybody put a 4 barrel on your flatty? What kind? what size? ppl say better than a 2x2? easier to tune? Speedway has a 390 cfm holly and a offy manifold.
Offenhauser 1949-1953 Flathead 4-Barrel Intake - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop Think its worth the money? I know you all prefer the 2x2 but isnt the 4 barrel easier to tune?

im running a offy intake and a holly carb mines a 600cfm. they don't recommend that big of a carb but im board, stroked, and camed. so it seems just fine I'm only running it because it was free but tuning wise i bolted it on and drove.

If your stock 390 CFM , If you have 8:1 aluminum heads then perhaps 500 cfm .
Yes a 4bbl is easier to tune but a pair of deuces sure looks cool .
Just my humble opinion .

You can guess! It isn't just that you're using two carbs all the time but you're using two 1940's-era carbs with two unsophisticated circuits (idle and main jet) versus the infinitely variable jetting of the metering rod setup in an Edelbrock.

Note the stock dizzy (Loadamatic) won't work well with either.

Hunt around for a 50s Carter WCFB. Will work on a 4V flathead manifold with no adaptors. Is about the right size as well.

It will "work", but there is no way for it to get a vacuum signal at light loads/cruising RPM to mimic centrifugal advance. The 94's have a special circuit to do that.

Arguably, 300 cid Ford's work the best with Offy intakes and 390 cfm Holleys, or 500 cfm Edelbrocks, or even the stock Ford 2bbl (swapped in place of the original 1bbl). The 239 cid Ford is less than that, so one can do the math. My 2 cents

I get between 10 and 12 with my 1950 F4 239ci with a pair of 94's. All in town driving.

There's also the school of thought about using a 2X2 with progressive linkage. Just as some say they don't work worth a tinker's dam, there's others that actually run them and say they work well.
