ok so again its my 02 spec-v and the volume control on the radio will only adjust the volume to barley audible and thats it...

So there is some digital display that increases as you increase the ****, but it only goes to some point? Did it used to go farther? That almost sounds like some "limit" setting is in place - however that's typically more common in portable audio devices that have headphones.
Curious... Is the amp still bolted to the floor under the front passenger seat?
From what little bit I've dug up, it sounds like the head unit and amp "talk" to each other through the wiring harness - it makes sense to me that, if there is something wrong with either the amp or the harness, that the head unit won't work right...
i dont think the amp is on the floor.. there is one in the truck from the factory..it could be a limiter/ like a protect mode..maybe i will disconnect the battery and the amp and then reset it and see what happens
