Multi Media, CD/Tape player

Since new, my '99 multi media (CD/Tape) radio that came in the truck has played great but the "Seek" will not find the next track in sequence (with either a tape or CD) - always random in either direction. This makes it hard to select a song. Is it broke or is that normal?

Just a dumb thought but is it on shuffle? Cause if it is that would explain why it radomly chooses a track.

Sounds like a perfect excuse for replacing it with a /real/ radio. Like a Pioneer or Sony. Removal and installation is a snap. It'll sound a lot better too.

I know it is easy to remove a Ford factory radio. Is there a smart way to do the installation of the replacement head unit? Can you suggest any links, etc.?

How about the Ford speakers? A coworker has offered me a free set of "Polk Audio (???)" speakers which he says are quite good. Is this basically a situation where anything is an improvement?
