I pulled out the airbag diode in the fuse box under the hood while the engine was running. Then engine quit. Put diode back in and the engine re-started but now a picture of person in seat with airbag inflated in front of them is flashing on the instrument cluster. 1998 Ford F150 V6. How can I get rid of this?
Count the flashes to determine the two-digit flash code. Then, SEARCH for previous threads about that error code by using the search string of "+LFC +XX" where XX= the fault code.
Disconnecting the battery is a waste of time. It won't make any difference.
The code is 52. What I found is that I need to turn the keyswitch on/off 256 times and let the self test run thru. Or else eventually it will dissapear after 256 starts and restarts under normal driving. I think I'll sit in the driveway and do as many as I can.

Started and stopped engine in driveway 256 times and I still have the airbag error 52. Any suggestions from folks who have had this error. I originallly got the error when I removed a diode in the fuse compartment under the hood. The engine quit and wouldn't run until I put it back in so I know I didn't hurt anything.
The error should have gone away if everyone is right about 256 starts.
Yeah, I found that out. They said they could read it but not reset it. When they read it their device didn't even show the airbag 52 error that I had. Instead it said something about a lean bank and he said it was probably a dirty O2 sensor. I bought some additive to try cleaning the O2 Sensor. As far as the airbag problem I kinda figured out what you say about a mechanic will have to reset it. That's my next plan is to find one that won't charge and arm and a leg. Ford dealer wanted a straight $80 to just hook up the tester. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep you posted.
