I know this has been discussed a few times before and I've even chimed in with my own experience, however, this seems like a new one.
I have had the issue with the ignition switch not fully returning to "run" and it affects the the Blower/turn signals, this time though, the turn signals quit but the blower is fine.
Looking at the wiring diagram, the line side of the blower and turn signal fuses are common coming from the same contacts on the ignition switch, so if the blower is fine, I assume I can rule the switch out.
Of course I replaced the flasher unit to rule it out and I am getting power to the flasher so the problem is downstream of that.
The steering column switch feels normal, I'm just getting nothing, no dash indicator either.
I'll continue to scan the wiring diagrams, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Are you getting power after the flasher? Check both terminals. You should have power going through, and as the flasher heats up from the bulb load, it should cut off, cool down, and then cut back on and repeat. So if you have a problem where there is no bulb load on the flasher, you should have power on both sides. The best way to check these circuits is with a testlight, a digital voltmeter cannot be believed sometimes when checking this stuff.
That means all the lights are hooked up and working, and the 4-way flasher works. Sometimes just doing that will make them start working, the 4-way switch get's dirt in it sometimes.
Spot on Dave! I just went out and tried the turn signals and you're right, after engaging the 4 ways the turn signals are working again. I'd buy you a beer but you're too far away.
