Just as the title says....my oil pan drain plus is leaking. What is the best fix for this? I'm assuming the Fumato Valve would be best. But I just changed my oil and don't want to lose my new oil while switching to the Fumato. Unless you guys think I can pull a quick switcheroo and just replace what I lose? What do you think?
Open the oil fill cap and put a vacum cleaner hose on it and tape it so there's no leaks. Turn the vacum cleaner on and then quickly change the plug to the Fumoto valve. Minimal loss from what I've been told. Have a clean container under neath just in case.
i would personally just pull the plug and put pyrex on it and let it dry than cause the pyrex flat like the ''gasket'' or seal that was on it previously and put it back on and see if it holds make sure to use a nice sharp object (razor). i only say this because i did it on my toyota truck and i was literally stranded 40 miles from the nearest cell service and no humans around and well it worked its still on there too or you can just buy a plug from a junkyard

Oil won't suck up into the vacuum cleaner will it. that would make a major mess of my new shop vac.

Very Little if any at all
just whats sitting in the Rocker Box that would be one hell of a Vac to suck the Oil up threw from the Oil Pan
Basicaly you need to change the Copper washer on the drain plug
I dont think the Vac will suck Hard enough to really help but Definatly try it Good Idea
You Need an old shop vac for it I have one thats old I use to suck Fluids out of Vehicles Like Power Steering reservoir fluid change stuff like that Gear Boxes rear Pumkin ect....
If you do switch it out Speed is going to be Key and its going to be a mess
Years ago I was so poor I actually used gum, coat hangers, ductape and paper clips or what ever I could scrounge. I once put beer in the brake resivor on a old International flat bed truck out in the desert of NM to get back to civilization!
