I notice that as well if I shut off the truck while it's in a regen. It's usually accompanied by metal expansion/contraction noises coming from the exhaust system.
I'm kinda glad we're back to talking about exhaust regens and exhaust fluid now on the 6.7L forums.
I notice the same smell and noises with mine when I park it in the garage and it was still in a regen cycle. It still bothers my wife (she thinks there is something wrong with the truck when it does this) but I have gotten used to it and really don't notice it anymore unless someone points it out.
Mine has the same smell after running hard, especially towing heavy. I thought it was all the new plastic, rubber and metal parts getting used at high temps.
I get the same thing. I never attributed it to anything particular, but once in a while it smells that way when I pull into the garage. Smells like burning oil to me.
Add me to the list. I've seen light smoke once but it could have been from the rust proofing still. Truck looked like it was on fire after the 1st regen after it was sprayed.
I'm surprised the guy at the fuel station didn't come out and tell me my truck was on fire.
My truck has over 11000 km on it, and still smells like it is ready to burn down if I park it in the garage when still in regen mode. Apparently there is nothing to worry about, unless you park it in a public garage, and the local fire department use it as a training exercise and turn the hoses on it!!!!
