CDR removal for cleaning- 1989 7.3
I have read all of the threads I can find about removing the CDR and cleaning it. I have unbolted mine from the manifold and pulled on it but the tube that attaches it to the valley pan won't let go. If I break the tube or pull it out of the valley pan what kind of trouble am I in? I found the part number for a new tube in another thread but nothing that tells how to replace it. I'm just wondering if I'm better off leaving the CDR alone (dirty) vs. breaking something that will require major disassembly to fix.

I looked underneath the CDR with a flashlight and I could see a metal band wrapped around the rubber tube clamping it to the CDR. The CDR had obviously never been removed and cleaned. I was able to get the CDR off by resting the right side mounting ear on the intake manifold and prying up on the left side ear with a large screwdriver. The hose going down to the valley pan split just below the metal band. There is actually enough of the rubber tube still left to re-attach to the CDR without a clamp.
I was able to blow into the CDR where it attaches to the hose and there is no resistance what-so-ever. The air comes right out the tube that goes into the manifold. This CDR is shot- correct?
