my grandfather ordered a Mercedes years and years ago. Flew to germany, watched the vechicle completion, drove it off the line, then had it shipped home after driving it all over Europe. Ahh the good old days..
Still can get your Benz that way. Order it here with europeon delivery and I think they even give you a discount on the price. Only if we could get Super Dutys discounted for picking it up ourselves.....
Good news, my truck is on the move again. CSX handed it off on 3-23 to a regional RR called IHB, they had the railcar for 1 week in Gibson IN, Friday, 3-30, they moved it to Blue Island IL, and today they handed it off to BNSF, last time I check it was "passing" Trevino WI. WooHoo, looks like it might get here next week.
Dealer called today, truck is suppose to be in Kent, they just need to off load it from the train and load it on an OTR truck for the ride to the dealer. He told me to come in Friday to pick it up.

Well, I picked up the new truck last Friday. I spent Friday afternoon and all day Saturday installing airbags, compressor, factory sway bar, mud flaps, wheel well liners, and tail gate ezdown. I also put the Weather tech floor liners in, although my truck did end up with the new floor pan design, the floor liner fits but it's kind of "puffy" where the floor is now lower. I might at some point see if Weathertech will sell just the drivers side. The truck now has 76 miles on it now and I just got done polishing out the first 2 scratches, on the tail gate where my 10 your old just had to see how the ezdown worked, apparently he forgot about the airsoft gun he also had in his hand and some how that made contact with the tail gate. Luckily, it looks like some polishing compound and then some pure carnuba wax looks to have fixed it, although it was dark so we'll have to see tomorrow.
Interesting thing about the truck is that the vin number that was given to me by the dealer and that I used to look up the window sticker (links previously provided) and that window sticker had my name on it, turns out is not the vin number delivered. I had been given 1FT8W3BT7CEB67733 and got 1FT8W3BT9CEB67734. I don't know the significance of that, but it would explain why the truck was delivered while the train tracking still showed it in North Dakota.
My wife has some pictures on her iPhone, and I'll figure out how to get them here or at least in my gallery tomorrow.
