Is the solenoid the same thing as the vacuum pump? Or are they 2 different parts?

Different parts. If you look at that pic in that link I gave you, you will see the vacuum pump next to that football looking holding tank. lol

EDIT: When you turn the key on, you will hear the fuel pump come on also. The fuel pump is under the cabs drivers side. Kind of right under the front door on the frame rail. Is this what you heard???

Passenger.I'm thinking that its the a/c, but could it mess up something electrical? And also, on the passenger side there is a ring that is out of place. Can I post pictures?

The vacuum lines going to the hubs don't go under the ac. That is maybe the line going to the blend door. The lines I'm talking about come from the solenoid to the front hubs.

It would help if you could post pics. I use photobucket to post some of my pics.

At this point you need to check the truck with all 4 tires off the ground

Your hubs are working

Your shift motor is working

So unless your t-case is broken, I'm thinking you are actually in 4x4

Are you positive the wheels werent turning? Remember that only 1 tire is going to spin up front....the one with least traction.

Go find some dirt. Manaully lock the hubs. Shift into 4x4 low. Goose the throttle and cut the wheel over hard. Get out and check your tire spin marks.

Ok if the vacuum pump was broken wouldn't I still be able to turn the hubs and have 4x4?

As long as the t-case shift motor works, you will still have 4x4

Hubs fail: manually lock them

It's annoying if the vacuum solenoid fails, or some other issue. But that won't kill the 4x4. It just makes you get out and do it old style

Yes, your hubs should still lock without vacuum when doing them by hand.

Hang in here, we will figure this out.
