The p.o. said both tanks work fine, but said he hadn't used the rear tank in years. Can I turn the key partway, flip the switch, and see what the fuel level is without actually changing anything? I just want to see how much gas is in there. If it's close to E I'll just put some in and run it. If it's half full of old gas, I want to drain it.
Thanks.
You can. In an "attempt" to keep as much old fuel out of the system, build your fuel pressure with front tank before you switch it. Definitely drain the tank of old gas.
I just tried it. Rear tank shows just under 1/4 tank. Wonder if I fill it up and go, if it will dilute the old stuff enough? Don't want to put seafoam or cleaner in it, allready did the front tank. From reading on here, looks like it's next to impossible to drain the tanks from the filler neck. Maybe if I put some premium in it one time?
Thoughts?
And thanks.
Had to make a quick 60 mile round trip this evening. Put some liquid gold (premium) in the rear tank, got up to 70 mph and flipped the switch. Ran like a scalded dog the whole way. Thanks for backing me up on what I was probably going to do anyway.
