i usally rotate which gas tank gets fuel unless i fill them both at the same time. monday i put 6 gallons of fuel in my rear tank and was running on the front tank until it gets down to 1/4. it did. switched to the rear tank and went on. next morning got in the truck and noticed gas was lower than it should be i thought. this morning got in the truck and it registered 1/4 tank. i thought someone is stealing my fuel. flip the front tank back on and its got over half tank. is it possible rear tank leaks in to the front like that? blows my mind. thanks for listening have a great day
if your fuel switch back on the frame isnt operating properly, it can pump fuel from the return system into the wrong tank i believe. Id completely run one tank down and then fill the other, then run it like you did, if it is dumping fuel into the other tank rather than returning it to the proper tank, replace the fuel switch/valve on the frame rail..
thanks wreckinball. is it hurting anything by doing that? is it something i should fix right away or could it be alright til spring. need to pull both tanks and fix why it runs out at 1/4 tank anyway, just wanted it to warm up a little first
yeah the pickup tube is just broken off or almost broken off. if you dont know what to do there let us know but it sounds like you have a bead on it. As for the fuel switch, no it shouldnt hurt much just need to switch it around more often. I know you can bypass it and just use one tank if needed. Just cap off the unused lines and make sure the return goes to the return lol!
I didn't see it mentioned but it would probably be easier to pull the bed since you have to work on both tanks. Provided everything isn't rusting apart...
yes i already had in mind just pull the bed. figured it would be just as easy. for this to be a 90 it has no rust at all that i,ve found, and i,ve been from one end to the other checkin things out
