Question putting in a/c

Can i put aircondition in a 82 f-250 custom that came out of a 86 f-250 xlt. I have everything out of the 86. all the vents and parts.Even the dash controls the only problem i can see will be that the 86 has vacume controled switches and the 82 has cables. Can i use the cables or do i have to convert to vacume. Is it hard to convert to vacume? Can i use the vents that are under the dash now or do i have to use the ones out of the 86.How much needs to be changed.

It should work fine if you use ALL the '86 parts. Get the whole duct system that's attached to the firewall; both from the engine compartment and from behind the dash.

You will have to cut a bigger hole in the firewall as the heater-only trucks have a smaller opening. That should be the hardest part if you have everything else you need.

If you use the '86 system, hook the vacuum lines up just the way they come off of it.

I have never done this swap before, but from looking at the breakdown of the system, it seems like all the vacuum lines are self contained in the system, except for one source line that comes from a tree mounted on the firewall(engine vacuum source) In other words, all the vacuum lines will go from the new a/c control, to the new air door actuators that you robbed from the other truck. If you don't know how all these hook up, then good luck.
