UN-claimed vehicles are relived of items of value then sold as appropriate usually to a parts yard for scrap price.
That is currently $12.50 a hundred weight.
Most of the vehicles that go UN-claimed are POS anyway.
I got a ½" Dewalt drill last week out of a rolled over '98 Ford F-150 that has sat in the yard for 5 months.
At $20 a day storage that's more than 3k alone.
A '98 is about 3,900# so that's 39 X $12.50 = $487.50 scrap
The original tow bill was @ $280.00 So the boss makes @ $350.00 profit from it.

I used to build houses but then the Goldman sachs thought it a good idea to securitize a bunch of mortgages written to part time minimum wage earners and resell them as triple A bonds and then I couldnt build houses anymore because theyre still trying to get rid of the houses the people couldnt afford in the first place. Simple eh?
Now I mostly do kitchen and bath remodels.

I'm a Realtor with Windermere/Tri-Cities in Kennewick, serving the greater Tri-Cities area helping people better their lives with a home that meets their needs and stays within their budget. Been doing that for 10 years now. Before that, I was an automotive painter and car builder, spending the better part of 23 years building show cars, street rods, high end restorations, and the like.
