"No-Slip" Locker, good?

Hey, I am looking into getting a Powertrax No-Slip locker in the rear of my truck. Its an 84' F-150 (4X4), I6, 4spd granny, 33" tires and a 8.8" in the back. I am looking at this locker because it sounds like it drives pretty nice on the road and performs well off road, also, it is one of the least expensive I can find. Right now the open in the back isnt cutting it, but, I want to know if the No-slip is going to be a waste of money. I hear that lockers that use the original carrier are weak. ANy input on this at all would be greatly appreciated.

Sure its weak compared to what? A detroit locker or arb?

The no slip is better than the Lock right because it has a synchronizer mechanism to elimintate the harshness of the original. However, you are at the mercy of the original carrier strength, where as other carriers such as an eaton detroit or arb have better machined cases that make them stronger.

I guess my question is, how much abuse will my stock carrier take? I know that that is the weak point, but, is it something that is going to more prone to failure once i slap a locker in there? Because, obviously, its still going strong so far. I am not looking to get real crazy off road, and i am not putting out gobs of horsepower or anything, I jsut want to make sure that its something thats not going to tear itself or the carrier apart in a year or two. Any thoughts?

Anyone out there running one of these? Or, heard of anything about their performance or durability?

I am running the lock-right in my sterling 10.25. This one really does not unlock as often as i thought it would, which doesn't bother me. The no-slip should be a little nicer on the road but if you're not pounding on it with one tire in the air all the time you shouldn't have any problems. It's basically when you put all the power to one tire it is hardest on the carrier. For the money it is worth it, especially since the rear does not neeed set up after putting it in.
