Pricing questions
I have the chance to pick up 390 rods ,casting nuber C6AE-C, and a 390 crank ,casting number I dont know will try to find out, for $175. I also can pick up so "390 special" heads casting nuber C0AE, from what I under stand they are large valve small combustion chamber heads, the guy wants $150 for them. I was wonder what you guy though of the prices. Thanks for any help

the crank and rods, at 175 seems okay to me. Check the crank carefully before you do anything with it. I've seen alot of cranks, especially in fords, that are being ground even when they really don't need it. Most ford cranks can get by with just a polish job on them. Why pay for removing metal when it is unnessasary ? As for the heads, the valve size is the same ( if I remember rightly ) but the chambers are the smallest available for an FE. Some guys like the smaller heads to make high compression easier. I'd buy 'em if I needed heads. DF, @ his Dad's

The rods are regular 390.THe heads depending on what numbers come after the letters .If it has 6090 d they came on 60 352 Hp 61 62 390 Hp early 62 390 hp with dished pistons combustion chamber volume 59 .7 To 62.1 Intake valve size 2.022 to 2.037 Exhaust valve 1.551 1.556. If it has 6090c they are 1960 352 with a combustion chamber volume of 72.8 to 75.8 May be this will help some Wes Tanner
