Charging system/Dorman Intake Manifold

I had a coolant hose blow out and saturated everything. It blew out directly at the altenator. Fixed the hose filled up the collant and parked it. The next morning my wife says that the battery light came on, and it was acting like it wanted to die. It wouldnt start so I jumped it and it starts fine now. when the rpms go up the volt meter in the dash goes all the way up abs light comes on heat and radio turn on and off. When rpms drop everything goes back to normal. Could all the coolant shooting into the altenator have messed it up? It seems to be charging fine its just spiking. Any suggestions?? <!-- / message -->

Took off the alternator and took it to Advance and Auto zone. It tested bad at both places. Its rated 130 amps but only putting out around 50. Voltage regulator is fried, which explains the higher the rpms get, the higher the voltage.

All this happened because I put a Dorman Intake manifold on my expy. The manifold works fine, but there is a fitting that sticks up out of the aluminum crossover (I am assuming it is some modification by Dorman for flushing or something because it is not on the factory intake) that has a rubber cap secured with a hose clamp. The cap blew out and directed the flow straight into the alternator which fried it. Bought a set of universal caps at auto zone for $3.20. Alternator runs from 114 to 179.

MY ADVICE, IF YOU USE A DORMAN INTAKE REPLACE THE CAP WHEN YOU INSTALL!!!!

Just installed the intake manifold 6-8 months ago and it seems alittle early for all this, but who knows how long ago the cap was installed by the manufacturer and in what kind of climate conditions it has been in untill I bought it.
