I have a '95 F250 4x4 with the 460 V8 and I have been looking for high performance parts for it and I'm having a hard time finding things that will work such as headers and intake manifold. There's a lot of them available up to '87 (carburated), but after that, I don't see very much for EFI 460's. Could anybody tell me where I could find good 460 high performance parts? I want to feel the power gains because I occasionally use it to pull trailers, but mostly I use it to drive to and from school. I'm also interested in improving my gas mileage. I already have a K&N filtercharger and a glass pack dual exhaust on it and I'm getting around 11 mpg. Thank you.
You could always put some headers on there with high flow converters.
Also, you can advance your timing for a bit more power.
Any real gains (50HP+) won't come unless you jerk off the heads. That is probably the most restrictive place on the Ford motors.
One of my buddies uses an old Ryder truck that has a 460 with ported and polished heads, long tubes, and 50 series Flows at his speed shop. Nice and loud for scaring people out of the way!
Unfortunately for us EFI 460 owners extra power does not come cheap. After the 35 HP or so you can add in bolt ons, things get very expensive due to the speed density nature of our computers. They cannot compensate for engine changes. If you bump up the compression, change the cam, and open up the heads, you will either have to do a custom MAF conversion, or have a custom chip burned.
