I'm looking for any help on removing the vents on the face or front of the dash. I have the chromed plated plastic type with the plating bubbling and peeling off. I want to remove the vents to peel the plating off myself and paint them. I was going to try to pop them off but wanted to check here first if there is a trick to keep from cracking them.
As always any help is appreciated.
I got the vents off was a simple tab deal on the inside. Of course some of the plating came off easy and other parts not so much, has anyone stripped the plating off these or anything else plastic? I'm hoping there is an easier way to get this plating off. Maybe soaking it in something?
I did this on a plastic grill years ago. yep... Pain in the @$$. Wish you the absolute best. To be honest with you your best bet is to goto the scrap yard and pick up some new(er) ones. Trust me. Not worth the hassle
Thanks for the info. Yeah it wasn't my idea of a good time. Junkyards here suck I may give ebay or craigs list a shot too.
Anyone if there is a year or years that the vents were color coded to match interior instead of plated?
