Ok, why not..finally ordered them!!!!

We bought the X like almost year an a half or two years ago. Since the day we bought her shes had an exhaust leak on the pass side. Ive been a mechanic forever and it didnt bother me at purchace. Well I finally get around to it this last weekend. My son and I get to repairing her on saturday.
Well we got manifold off with the intension of ordering a new set of headers. Well Luke talks me into just replacing the broken stud (got lucky only had 1 on the pass side). And replacing the gasket. So I took the manifold to get resurfaced, got the new studs and gaskets.
We reassy everything. It went well, start her up and wow shes finally quiet. I love it.
So were sitting there admiring our work (took most the day as we had to drive 40 minutes away 1 way to get parts and angle drill alone). As were sitting there chattin for 5 minutes im like do you hear that.....Its getting louder luke WTF.....WELL IN 5 MINUTES THE DAMN LEAK IS BACK.......MOTHER F'ER...It sounds like its back at the original place but while listing with a hose it sounds like its also at the y pipe. But the sound can be traveling......
I def am not a fan of Autozones felpro gaskets but they have worked in the past. But they look NOTHING like the factory units but still should work. Well I searched all weekend and read tons of posts on what to get. As I def want to replace the y pipe also.
In the end said ok,what the hell. I just got off the phone with BANKS. I ordered headers,y pipe, gaskets, etc. I didnt want to spend that much but after pricing headers (from all manuf's and a new y pipe) the BANKS complete system wasnt much more...
I was so pissed after spending all our time and got no where I just said f'it.
Kit should be here tomorrow or wed at the latest. And I just want my X to be exhust leak free. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Im not big on taken pics during install of stuff but ill try and ill post up after it done.
Thanks for the vent guys and gals

Congrats! Not many around here seem to be real into Banks, but like you say, once you get to replacing so much, it just makes sense.

So you got the trans tuning with all of that too?

Its my 1st banks purchace.

I went with them mainly for the y pipe. I didnt want the spd unit that u weld into your factory y pipe. Im trying to get rid of exhaust leaks not add more to the mess.

Im sure there top notch and a little over priced. But im def the type who will gladly pay more for good quality stuff that GOES TOGETHER AND FITS LIKE IT SHOULD. I dont mind paying more for less stress and drama.

No, just got the exhaust stuff I didnt get a tranny controller

CallMed, congrats on the exhaust... I'm sure you will be pleased with the Banks system, just a word of warning. Since they are stainless you will hear the exhaust traveling thru the headers (at first you may think it's a leak but it's not). Best way for me to describe would be, it sounds like a couple snakes under your hood.

Also the kit comes with heat shields, in the directions it says to install last, however my tech claimed the starter heat shield should be installed first.

Re-post when installed with your opinion.

I don't mind if the exhaust gets loud under load. I was refuring to if the sound the exhaust makes that resembles the exhaust leak he was talking about.

You will be fine, the snakes won't bite until you get on the gas pedal.

If you don't mind my asking, how much was the header, gasket, and Y pipe? Banks is just a couple of towns over from me...maybe 20 miles in Irwindale, so I could just go and pick mine up if I buy from them. Any warranty work would be no biggie.

The Excursion forum sponsor seems to have great prices on that stuff and Clay (Riffraff Diesel) has great customer service too.

Ok so I never got my tracking number lastnight like my nice salesman said I would. I called lastnight at almost 5pm and sales guy said dont worry its shipping and youll get the tracking number later that night.
Well I call this morning, get put on hold instantly while calling my salespersons direct number. He didnt even answer and say hey let me place you on hold and find out. Just ringing, then hold. I finally hung up after 10 minutes.

I call main number and operator instantly says you need customer service. Well another 10 minutes goes by. I hung up and called back, this time just asked operator if she could provide me with the tracking info. She couldnt and said I have to wait for customer service. Ok fine ill wait.
About 5 minutes later (not complainin, that resonable time) customer services says "ok those are made to order, so they will make your headers today and get them shipped out".....REALLY, YOUR GOIN TO MAKE THEM AND GET THEM SHIPPED OUT TODAY. That is some great customer service. No way your gona tool up,whip out my nice set of headers and gettin in the mail in 8 hours.
But im not gona give them a attitude. Its not there fault I was lied to by my sales guy. Im not upset about waiting, just dont tell me there instock waiting to ship just so you wont loose a order. Just tell me sraight up in the beginning. We gotta make'm and that may take about a week or whatever you wanna say.
So ill get them when I get them.
I knew better but took his word and tore down the truck. Thats a no no but I was stupid. Grrrr Dont ever tear anything down till you got ur parts.
