I'm starting to get my 'new' cab ready- But have a quick question.
Originally, my truck had a 3 speed manual transmission. Somewhere down the line, it was replaced with a C-6 automatic, which is what is in there now. This is the old cab-
It doesn't appear that they modified it in any way, and I think this is the original cab (although I suppose it could have been replaced).
Here is the NEW cab-
I have no idea what transmission the 'donor' truck had. The stamping appears to be a little different, but the dimensions are very similar- Almost exact (har d to tell for sure)... Obviously, the transmission fits now, I just want to make sure that when I put all this back together, it all fits again... I've been told that the floor would need to be modified for an automatic, but perhaps the c-6 will fit? The tunnels look to be the same size to me...
My WAG for your donor is that it was a 3 speed on the column converted to a floor shifter. That hole isn't factory, but is in the spot for an external linkage 3 speed shifter.
As for working, dimensions are the key. On your current set up, how much clearance do you have? If you have an inch or more, you are probably ok.
Im with the prior poster about possibly a 3 speed on the floor. The floor is the same. Pull a tape measure a few different directions and it should be the same. Only thing is to get a patch and weld the hole shut on the new cab.
Yeah, I'm not worried about the hole- just the transmission fit. I'll take a look under the truck to see how much clearance there is, though it'll be tough to tell for sure since my old cab is resting on the frame, the cab mounts have rusted away....
is you'r cab a custom cab? looking at floor no under floor battery door
i've got a 64' custom cab battery in engine com. my other is a 4x4, and the bat is under floor
my 4x4 is rusted bad at mounts also
