This is my third week of work on the barn find truck, The chassis has been cleaned and painted. Using 1979 F150 engine mounts I mounted and bolted the engine in place. I used the last series of holes in the frame rail to place the engine mount, this also required the drilling of one additional hole for the lower rear most engine mount.
The headers I chose for this project was the 1989 Mustang headers. This header configuration provided plenty of clearance for the power steering box as well as the start
As you can see I have started to install the engine bolt on items. The reason for this step is to check belt alignment. The A/C package is for a 1966 6 cylinder engine. In a effort to save $200. for new mounting hardware I will see if I can modify what I have. (Note the vice-grips holding the A/C bracket in place.)
The bed on the 1966 barn find does not have a floor in it. I was unable to find any new or reproduction sheet metal. I did however find a 1982 F250 that was totaled. Last week I removed the floor from the 82. I cut the floor above the inner wheel housing. With making the cut as high as I did I have the floor with all mounting brackets. When I install the floor in the 66 I will trim away what I don't need.
This coming week I am going to measure the drive shaft and have one fabricated. ------ until next week john
What engine are you running? looks like a 302 or 351w, but can't tell from the pic's, plus
i'm blind, lol, and are those 89 mustang (shorty's) or longtube?.
Thanks in advance!
